Caron has set up a new studio in the rural town of Encebras, near Murcia in southern Spain, her work explores the relationship between the simplicity and perfection of forms found in nature and the figure; her most recent work is inspired by the fantastic geological forms and stone terraces surrounding her studio. She was formally trained in ceramics at Cumbria College of Art and Design under the guidance of Mike Dodd and Jim Malone but has since diversified into sculpture using a range of media, which includes stone, clay and wood. Caron developed her figurative modelling and drawing skills under the renowned sculptor, John Osbourne at Stafford College of Art & Design. Caron now combines her time between creating her own artwork, working to private and public commission and part-time tuition of sculpture and pottery. Specialised courses are offered throughout the year in ceramics, stone carving, raku and smoke firings. Hands on experience and personal development will be the focus of these workshops with lots of practical demonstrations and support. During each course small groups of art enthusiasts will receive tuition in her newly built studio and outdoor working areas which are set amongst terraces of almonds, olives and grapevines. These workshop are suitable for: potters, artists, sculptors, teachers and students. |
