Caron O'Rourke has set up a new studio in Southern Spain which celebrates the vibrancy and stress-free environment of Inland Spain. The studio has three, distinct areas so that she can work in the shade throughout the year but still look out onto the surrounding almond, grape and olive terraces. The local mountains contain a wealth of natural resources including stone, marble, colouring oxides and fantastic routes for hill walking and cycling. These new surroundings have had a direct influence on Caron's new work; the superb quality of the L'Amorqui limestone is enhanced by the fantastic light and colours enjoyed when working outside in the sunshine. The scale of the landscape has allowed Caron to create larger and stronger forms which reflect the beauty of the human form, natural textures and the geology of her local environment. Caron has run her own studio for nearly 20 years, her unique sculptures are in both private and public collections throughout the UK and Spain. As an experienced and qualified art and design tutor she also offers specialist courses and practical workshops throughout the year at her studio "Casa de Girasol" which is located in the rural village of Los Encebras, Pinoso, Alicante. Demonstrations and lectures for art groups can be arranged, further information on all these activities are available on the Courses And Art Holidays menu option. Visitors are welcome to the studio by appointment.
